50-year-old man beheaded in Homa Bay

Homa Bay, Kenya: Residents of Rodi Kopany in Homa Bay were left in shock Tuesday morning after a 50-year-old man was found beheaded.

Joseph Apiyo died on the spot after two gangsters allegedly attacked him in his house and slashed his neck with a sharp object.

Residents said the two gangsters forcefully entered the deceased’s house and attacked him.

East Kanyada location Chief John Ndiga confirmed the incident.

"I think Apiyo's death might have been caused by profuse bleeding he suffered after the cut. The two men first broke the door and forced their way into the house where he had retired to bed," Ndiga said.

Ndiga said preliminary investigations revealed that the two men later escaped on a motorbike via Homa Bay- Rongo road.

The incident occurred a few minutes after the deceased returned to the house. He had escorted his two cousins, who had visited him that night.

Apiyo's body was taken to Homa Bay County Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
