Pastor sentenced to 50 years for defiling a minor

Bungoma, Kenya: A middle aged man was on Thursday sentenced to 50 years in prison by a Bungoma Magistrate court for defiling a minor.

The court heard that Patrick Masafu 32, a pastor in Cheptais district, Mt.Elgon defiled a 9-year-old class four pupil of Nakitumba primary school.

Sirisia senior resident magistrate Francis Kiambia while passing the judgment said the convict deserved to serve the 50 years in prison.

Another 31-year-old got a ten-year sentence in the same court for a similar case in what appears to be a rising trend of sexually related charges in the county.

The man the court heard waylaid a sixteen-year-old class eight pupil as she walked home and repeatedly raped her.

The girl, a pupil at Kimaswa primary then reported the matter to her parents who took her to police and later to hospital where she was examined.

The magistrate said the two deserve a punitive punishment to contain the vice of sexual offences that has bedeviled the county.
