Chief State receptionist accuses Office of President staff of assault

NAIROBI, KENYA: Police are investigating an incident in which the Chief Government Receptionist, Rachael Kamatu, claims she was assaulted by a senior official in the Office of the President last Thursday.

Ms Kamatu recorded her statement at the KICC Police Station, alleging the official physically assaulted her outside Harambee House.

Central OCPD Paul Wanjama confirmed Kamatu had returned a P3 form to the police complaining about the alleged attack.

He added the complainant did not, however, record further statements on her claims.

“We are also waiting for her witnesses to record their statements and from there, we will know what we will do,” said Mr Wanjama.

Kamatu has in the meantime contacted a lawyer, Kioko Kilukumi, to act on her behalf in the case.

“She has contacted me regarding the alleged assault,” Mr Kilukumi confirmed.
