Gilgil, Kenya: Unknown number of thugs raided NYS training school in Gilgil carting away over Sh12m shillings in a mysterious incident.

The thugs broke into the highly guarded offices on Thursday night and stole a huge safe used to store money without arousing any suspicion.

Incidentally, none of the guards in the training school detected any anomaly during the operation that lasted for over two hours.

Following the incident, detectives moved in and directed that eight workers including some senior staff in the accounts department record statements over the robbery.

The incident raised anxiety in the institution as the money was meant to pay recruits who had graduated and were leaving for other stations.

However a senior officer who declined to be named said they were questioning some suspects over the incident.
The officer said that the thugs gained entrance into the office through a window before carrying the safe that contained the cash.

"All indications point to an inside job but we are tracking the vehicle that carried the safe box from the training institute," said the officer.

The robbery affected operations in the training school as detectives moved in to dust the affected offices.
