Police report six deaths in separate crime incidents

Nairobi, Kenya: Six people have been killed in separate crime incidents in Nairobi as police assured of security.

Three were found dead after allegedly consuming alcohol in Kayole. Police said they are yet to establish their cause of the death on Saturday.

Nairobi police boss Benson Kibue said residents had told them the three men were seen in a local alcohol joint before their bodies were discovered later on.

He said an irate crowd lynched two motorcycle riders who had attacked and robbed a woman in Kileleshwa. The three attackers are said to have snatched a mobile phone from a university student at about 8pm on Saturday.

"The female student screamed and the public turned on the attackers, killing two while the third one escaped on foot. They also set the motorbike on fire," said Kibue.

He said they are trying address a spate of attacks by men on motorbikes which is on the rise in Kileleshwa.

Kibue added that another suspect was shot dead by police in Huruma Sunday in a botched robbery incident. The suspect is said to have been in the company of three others and were mugging residents when police were alerted.
