Alfred Mutua: Ignore mass action by CORD and support Jubilee

Machakos, Kenya: Kamba leaders and their supporters were on Sunday urged to ignore the pre-planned mass action by CORD and support President Uhuru Kenyatta and his government.

Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua, urged the community to instead support Jubilee government and give it time to deliver her promise.

Speaking in Matuu town in Yatta Sub County, the governor who was flagged by his deputy Bernard Kiala and several MPs from Kitui, Makueni and Machakos counties called on CORD to engage in dialogue to air their views and not mass action.

''It is too early to engage Kenyans in an election fever while we have more than three years down the line to deliver to the electorate'' he said.

He said those in leadership positions should be given room to deliver their pledges without interruption so as for the electorate to judge them after the five year term whether they have delivered or not.

He warned that the ongoing political bickering in the country was likely to jeopardise development agenda by the Jubilee government and that Kenyans should be wary of the situation.

'In this case I urge my brothers and sisters in leadership circles in the three counties to be cautious on the prevailing political scenario by ignoring the pre-planned rallies by CORD'' he added.

However, the charged crowd differed on the Jubilee support agenda with some supporting while others opposed.

This happened when the governor said, munataka Uhuru aende ama afanye kazi' do you support Uhuru or not, with some responding ‘ndio’ while others said ‘hapana’.

But the governor went on and challenged those insisting Uhuru should go, asking where he should go.

''He's the President of the republic of Kenya and deserves every respect like any other elected leader'' he added.

Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, castigated CORD for having ill intention against the Jubliee government.

''I have useful information on how CORD plans to overthrow Uhuru's government something which should be met with stiff resistance'' he said.

Mr Musyoka said the planned saba saba rally plans to bring chaos with the intention to bring down the Jubilee government.

Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi, called for patience saying both parties should embrace dialogue that will ensure Kenyans remain in peace and united.

''The purporse of the mass action is ill intentioned and should not be supported by any peace loving Kenyan'' he said.

But Kilome MP Regina Ndambuki insisted that Jubilee should accept to consult with CORD for better understanding, she however said that the planned mass action will not solve anything.

Other MPs who addressed the rally included Charles Nyamai (Kitui rural), John Munuve (Mwingi north) and nominated wiper party bishop Mutemi who all dismissed the planned mass action as unwise for a peaceful country like Kenya.

During the function, the governor launched poultry projects for the youth and women groups where 87 of them benefitted.

The governor also launched tractors for the construction of roads and earth dams.
