Exclusive: What Lupita Nyong'o did in Naivasha

 For the second time in a row, Hollywood-based Oscar award winning Kenyan star Lupita Nyong'o sneaks into the country to attend yet another wedding. Pulse brings you the exclusive Photo: Courtesy

After sneaking into the country late last week, under heavy security, Hollywood star Lupita Nyong’o was driven to the Green Park Lodge, Naivasha where she spent the night with family members and friends.

Evading paparazzi and without leaking details of her visit, Lupita avoided cameras, remaining incognito as she enjoyed dinner at the glamorous lake-side luxury facility.

“She was really relaxed and around the people who were in her company, she wasn’t behaving anything close to what you would expect a superstar to behave,” a source at the hotel told Pulse.

“She was down to earth and she did not make any diva demands. She liked our menu and only ordered what was within it. Besides, she went to bed early,” our source added.

Lupita who is also a style icon was in town for her cousin’s wedding, a family affair that comes only months after she attend yet another family wedding at the Rift Valley.

It was an invite-only wedding affair that carried an African theme and some of the tents had even been labelled in Swahili captions.

Lupita was in simple braids and had on a green dress and brown boots as well as a scarf. Throughout the ceremony she kept her sunglasses on. Her light handbag also matched the African theme and throughout the party she remained jovial, chatting with friends and guests.

Even though the wedding was glamorous, there was nothing out of the ordinary as is was kept simple with the bride and the bridegroom making their vows before the open sky as the guests toasted with Champagne in celebration.

The acting star who is known for her performance in block buster flicks like Star Wars and Jungle Book kept a low profile during her stay in the country.

This is not the first time has flown to her homeland quietly since her official visit in July last year. Besides flying in for her Christmas holidays, she flew into Nairobi last year in May to attend an exclusive high society wedding held at the Great Rift Valley Lodge in Naivasha where friends and family celebrated the union between Esperanza ‘Wam’ Nyong’o and Dadi Nyabiya.

“Lupita is a guest at the cousin’s wedding that is why information about her attending was kept hush hush,” a source said, “She did not want to steal the show.”

Apparently, Lupita was only one of the special guests during the ceremony.

Kwame Ny’ongo is famed for his popular animation series that also won awards.

Lupita’s parents and their equally high profile friends were in attendance and during the ceremony guests were not allowed to use their cellphones to take photos, neither were members of the fourth estate invited.

The evening party was held at the Green Park Lodge where Lupita and her family were staying the night.
