Woman accused of attempting to kill hubby to be locked up

 Bilhah Njoki and Joseph Muraya

Bilhah Njoki, the estranged wife of a Kenya Airports Authority employee, has been accused of attempting to murder her husband.

In June this year, Njoki, together with her relatives and boyfriend, was charged with attempting to kill her husband, Joseph Muraya.

Njoki who was released on bond will have to stay in police custody after the court cancelled her bond.

This comes after she was charged with breaking into Muraya’s house.

Njoki was charged alongside her brother Benson Kanyuga with breaking into Muraya’s house with the intent to steal.

The two allegedly committed the offence on July 13 in Buruburu.

The prosecution asked the court to deny Njoki fresh bond terms, and quash her bond in the first case claiming she had violated the court’s orders.

“The accused, together with her brother went to the complainant’s home without a valid court order and entered the house, thus making him more frightened,” Dennis Mangar,  the prosecutor stated.

According to prosecution, the accused’s action endangered the complainant’s life.

Njoki, through her lawyer, asked for lenient bond terms claiming that she wanted to pick her children’s clothes.

She further claimed that she went to Muraya’s house in the presence of police officers, and that she had a right to pick the clothes. In the previous case, the prosecution had asked her not to interfere with the complainant, contact or visit his residence.

Njoki who faces another charge of attempted murder with three other people was released on a cash bail of Sh500,000.

Njoki’s brother was however released on a Sh50,000 bond while Njoki was remanded in custody until July 29, pending the review of her bond.
