Smoothest vocals in Kenya right now? Third Hand band releases new song 'In The Air'

News

Kenya’s latest music sensation Third Hand Music trio comprising Collo, Mike and Ken who blasted onto the scene with their hit single ‘Helena’ a few months ago are back at it with a new song ‘In the Air’.

According to the trio unlike Hellena - a love song based on their teenage experiences of falling in love and living the life they desired, In the Air is all about love in general.

“The song brings out the fact that although you may fall in love and things don’t work as per your expectation that you are obliged to spread the love to the family and the society in general. It’s all about embracing a general love,” explains Mike, adding that the song is a fusion of Rock and Rhythm and Blues.

“We were inspired by happenings within the society including personal experiences,” adds Collo.

“It's about time we put aside all forms of hate, fear and doubt and embrace love as the way. We want to feel love in the air, everywhere,” says Ken.

“We are thrilled that there are indeed a large sections of Kenyans who love and appreciate our music. Despite the good reception we are already getting and will continue to do so we have already have a large number of fans who  have taken it upon themselves to share it on various platforms,” says Mike.

According to them the secret of the lyric video shot around Nairobi by Screen Cut production lies in its unique and different storyline.

“The director gave us all the freedom to do what we wanted from goofing off to frog jumping among other shenanigans you can think of since it was not the official video,” explains Mike.

The duo Mike and Collo begun their music career way back in 2011 while students University of Nairobi where they pursued journalism.

“We were initially part of the Phy and The Band before parting ways to form their own band. Ken who is currently a Second year Architect at University of Nairobi joined us three years later,” says Mike adding that they have performed at the two editions of Blankets and Wines and Mdundo Awards.

The group whose strong influence to continue performing is as a result of the huge response from their old and new  fans say they are inspired locally by Sauti Sol and E-Sir while internationally Kendrick Lamar Cold Play and Bruno Mars rock remain their idols

Unlike most local music groups the trio who describe their music as smooth, healing and feel good  say they write and co- produce every of their song leaving the producer with little work of mixing and mastering bit.
