Orange rolls out its 3G network in West Pokot County

WEST POKOT, KENYA: Orange has rolled out its third generation (3G) network into West Pokot County.

The roll-out of the GSM network in West Pokot is part of the company’s ongoing plan to connect all counties across the country to Orange’s high-speed network.

Company CEO Vincent Lobry said that ICT has become a key focus area for the county governments as they seek to deliver effective services to citizens. “Orange is proud to be undertaking this network expansion as we seek to strengthen our national broadband reach across the country. ICTs are integral for the growth of business and access to information,” adds Lobry.

“With 3G, consumers are not only able to enjoy better voice quality but are also able to access internet with faster speeds,” says Lobry. 

Orange is committed to ensuring that West Pokot County residents enjoy the benefits of high speed Internet by way of its GSM network. The network will also be a shot in the arm when it comes to the opening up of opportunities for business in the County as well as supporting the county government in improving their service offering through integrated ICT solutions.

Orange has so far rolled out 41 new 3G sites across the country with 35 more sites expected by the end of Q3.

And as result of the infrastructural investment, Orange Telkom Kenya gained 0.8 percentage points to reach 10.8 percent market share from last quarter’s performance of 10.0 percent as indicated in recent’s CAK report.
