When M-pesa was launched about 7 years ago many thought it was just another hoax. Today it has not only become a way of life but a part and parcel of life. It has as well enabled the Unbanked and unreached to accept mobile money in a way that is socially acceptable and bring the sense of belonging. Today most Samburu morans have registered for the Lipa Na M-pesa service for them to accept payment from buyers as far as upcountry before they exchange goods.

M-pesa is leading the way in changing culture as well. Most of the bridal price nowadays are made via M-pesa and little exchange of heards of cattles done. This has led to the mushrooming of M-pesa agent in the interior of Samburu village where insecurity and cattle raid was the order of the day.

If by any chance we knew that technology could change culture then Mobile cell phones could have been introduced earlier enough to our villages that are always at war for resources and get to enjoy the resource of technology which is vast.
