Knut branch wants KCPE registration deadline extended over website hitch

Kakamega, Kenya: Knut officials from Western region want the Government to extend registration of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam by one month as the IT registration systems in Kakamega have failed.

Western region KNUT Chairman Patrick Chungani said nearly half of primary schools are yet to register their candidates for this year’s Standard Eight exams.

“KNEC computer systems have failed posing a challenge to access candidate’s payment information and Government should consider our plea of extending registration period by at least one month so as to give room to schools which have not completed registration,” Chungani said.

He further stated that all primary school head teachers from western region want the deadline to be extended up to 1st May or end of April this year like they have done for secondary schools.

“More time should be given to allow pupils to register as computers are faulty and KNEC website is not accessible,” Chungani clarified.

According to Khayega DD primary school head teacher Noah Alwanyi, the website is very slow and the login system is not accessible.
