Twitter suspends Kenyan account that shared celebrity nudes.

Local News

Last week saw the biggest celebrity “nude apocalypse” yet!

But the next time you see such “interestingly incriminating” photos making rounds on the web, the safest option will be to ignore them.

And if the urge to share is too overwhelming, perhaps thinking twice before sharing content will come in handy lest twitter and other social media pages suspend your accounts.

Many twitter accounts have been suspended following the “nude apocalypse” that saw popular singers Rihanna and Arianna Grande, top actresses Gabrielle Union, Meagan good and Jennifer Lawrence, Kanye West wife Kim Kardashian and many other celebrities’ nudes leak last weekend.

Of course, an instant online buzz took over with most social media users wanting to get the most retweets and mentions for sharing the photos to their friends and followers.

For hours, the hash tag ‘nudes’ was trending as people searched up these incriminating photos without a care in the world.

But the aftermath has left many desperately trying to start up new accounts and begging their former followers to “follow them back again” on their new profiles.

So why would twitter suspend some accounts for sharing what was already public?

Apparently as soon as the incriminating photos hit the web sphere in sequence, the celebrities came out denying that the photos were intentionally circulated. Eventually, it was all blamed on the IOS hack which saw the hackers retrieve and share the private photos.

In light of the photos Oscar Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence’s agent made it clear that:

“The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence."

In a bid to identify and stop the accounts spreading the photos and further tarnishing the celebrity brands, twitter settled on ‘suspension’ as the “ultimate measure”.

And as if twitter’s suspension wasn’t harsh enough celebrities came out condemning those who shared the photos and like Meagan Good fearlessly announced.

“For everyone re-posting the leaked nudes, you should be ashamed of yourselves”

Some Kenyan twitter users were wondering why their accounts were suspended. Well, this could be the eagerly anticipated answer to their question.
