BAT Kenya profit up 11pc on back of export and domestic sales boost

British American Tobacco (BAT) Kenya’s full year 2014 pretax profit jumped 11 per cent to Sh6.1 billion, helped by increased export and domestic sales, the company said yesterday.

The firm, East Africa’s biggest cigarette maker that is majority owned by British-based group British American Tobacco Plc, said its total turnover rose to Sh34.12 billion, from Sh31.92 billion.

Its earnings per share rose to Sh42.55 from Sh37.24 the previous year. BAT shares closed down 0.23 per cent on Friday at Sh871.00.
