Transport authority chairman Lee Kinyanjui has joined the race for the governor's seat in next year's polls.

The National Transport and Safety Authority boss, who was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to head the board on September 20, 2013 for a period of three years, said yesterday he does not wish to have his term to be extended.

"I have indicated to the President that I would wish to focus on launching my campaign. I have conducted an independent survey and my chances to unseat Governor Kinuthia Mbugua are great," he said.

Political observers are predicting a battle of the titans between the two.
