Drunk Kenya Wildlife Service ranger kills colleague, injures boss

A Kenya Wildlife Service ranger killed his colleague and injured his boss on Tuesday.

The suspect is said to have picked up a quarrel with the victim in a bar at Makima market before shooting him dead.

He is said to have stormed out of the bar after a bitter exchange and threatened unspecified action against his colleague.

The officer is said to have left their camp in the morning and returned drunk.

The warden-in-charge, Mr Njoroge Muiruri, urged him to go and sleep.

However, he came back later and started shooting indiscriminately.

One bullet hit Joseph Nyaga who was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital and another hit Muiruri as other wardens scampered for safety.
