A boy who allegedly stabbed an 11-year-old girl to death in Magumu in Kinangop has been charged with murder.

The 12-year-old was charged before the High Court in Naivasha with the murder of Mary Nduta Wairimu on July 5 this year at Kibuyu village in Magumu.

The boy, who was represented by lawyer Francis Mburu, was remanded at Engineer Police Station until July 28, when the case will be mentioned.

His girlfriend

In documents before the court, the minor said some forces directed him to stab the victim whom according to him, was his girlfriend.

In a statement to the police, the Standard Three pupil said he was having intercourse with the deceased when a tall man appeared. He claims the man who also had a panga handed him a knife and ordered him to stab the girl.

After stabbing her several times, he says he went to her sister and informed her of what he had done.

The police file shows the investigating officer recovered the knife used to kill the girl and a pair of shoes left by the fleeing boy.

A post-mortem report revealed the girl died from excessive bleeding mainly from the chest due to an attack by a sharp object.

And in another court, a former lecturer with Egerton and Kenya Methodist universities was charged with obtaining money by false pretence.

Illegally obtaining

Henry Mwaniki Kabeca, 72, is accused of illegally obtaining Sh644,977 from Stephen Waweru Chege on diverse dates between January 8 and February 11 this year.

He denied the charge. However, he said he would settle the debt after selling his land and asked the court to give him more time from the court.

Naivasha Senior Resident Magistrate Esther Kimulu released him on a cash bail of Sh70,000 or a bond of Sh200,000. The case will be heard on September 27.
