Pressure is mounting on CORD co-principal Moses Wetang'ula to leave the coalition.

A section of leaders from Western said his chances of becoming the Opposition flag bearer next year are remote and he should therefore quit.

Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and MP Boniface Otsiula (Bumula), David Wafula (Saboti) and Agriculture Development Cooperation chairman Bifwoli Wakoli said Wetang'ula must act before it is too late.

"Senator Wetang'ula should not wait to go through the kind of pain our own brothers including the late Wamalwa Kijana, Musalia Mudavadi and now Ababu Namwamba, Paul Otuoma and Sirisia MP John Waluke suffered in the hands of Raila Odinga," said Wamalwa.

However, Wetang'ula maintained he is in CORD to stay, and insisted there are no divisions in the coalition as has been reported.

"I am part of the team that founded the coalition and there is no way I am leaving," he said. Nine MPs have threatened to leave ODM.
