Man survives risky attempt to enlarge manhood

A man’s bid to enlarge his manhood almost turned tragic.

Details of the case published in the International Journal of Surgery reveal that it took an urgent and delicate operation by specialist surgeons at the Kenyatta National Hospital to save the 26-year-old man.

The man had inserted a metallic ring around the base of his manhood in a procedure he believed would make his organ bigger.

But the ring got stuck causing his manhood to swell, leaving him in pain and even unable to pass urine.

“The kit had instructions that the ring should be placed around the base of the sexual organ for three hours every two weeks. Such rings are used to prolong male erections by reducing the flow of blood out of the manhood,” wrote the doctors in the journal article.

It emerged that the patient had initially used the ring as part of a penile enlargement kit before using it to enhance his sexual performance. Previously, he had been successful in removing the ring.

The journal article is written by Faraj Alkizim, Daniel Kanyata and Joseph Githaiga of the Department of Surgery at the University of Nairobi who conducted the delicate surgery. Joseph Oliech of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology also participated.

The man had presented himself to the casualty department of KNH after more than 12 hours of attempting to remove the ring.

By the time the man was presenting himself at KNH, his organ had enlarged and darkened significantly as blood was trapped and could not flow out as is normally the case.

The doctors immediately swung into action. However, the ring proved too thick for the cutters that were available in the hospital.

The doctors were forced to cut a section of his manhood and drain blood. That caused the swelling to subside and allowed the doctors to remove the tight ring easily.

The journal article does not reveal when the incident took place, but it appears to have been recent. The man in question gave his consent for the story to be published in the journal anonymously.
