Manchester City ALREADY annoying Pep Guardiola four months before he officially takes charge

Blues-bound boss is not impressed by plans for a pre-season tour to China — or the prospect of a Pep Guardiola is already on a collision course with Manchester City over their summer China trip AND a proposed tour game with cross-town rivals United, writes Steve Bates in the Sunday People.

The Blues' incoming boss is not keen on a tiring tour to the Far East in hot and humid conditions and would have preferred to do his conditioning work with his players in the USA where he believes facilities, pitches and the working environment will be easier.

And Bayern Munich boss Guardiola, who will officially make his already-confirmed switch to England on July 1, was even less pleased when he was told one of the games on City’s tour to China is likely to be against Manchester United — although no contracts have yet been formally signed.

City owner Sheikh Mansour recently sold a 13 per cent stake in the club to Chinese investors China Media Capital in a £265million deal, and their new partners are keen for the Blues to showcase new boss Guardiola with a high-profile tour there this summer friendly there against Jose Mourinho's Man United.

But Guardiola has reservations about the trip and has told director of football Txiki Begiristain that, given the option, China would not have been his choice.

The Spaniard is used to having a winter break in his time in charge of Spanish giants Barcelona and Bayern, and he’s concerned the summer trip to China could affect his side at the start of the campaign, where he will demand a high work rate, and also later in the season.

And the prospect of potentially facing arch-enemy Jose Mourinho in Beijing in July if the former Chelsea and Real Madrid is put in charge at Old Trafford is not thrilling for Guardiola either.

The pair frequently clashed during El Clasico games between their Barca and Real Madrid teams and the new Etihad chief is keen to avoid the media frenzy a pre-season meeting would bring.

Guardiola, meanwhile, has instructed City to find him a home with an indoor swimming pool.

The Spaniard wants to have somewhere to live sorted before he arrives with his family to take up his post and it’s thought his wife Cristina Serra is planning to go house-hunting in Cheshire in the coming weeks.

Club liaison officials have been asked to source properties with indoor pools to help keep his kids Maria, Marius and Valentina happy.

But Guardiola may want to avoid living in high-end Alderley Edge, Cheshire — where former City boss Roberto Mancini and a big contingent of the club’s current stars live.
