Kisumu Government releases Sh12 million to pay bills

The county government has finally released Sh12 million to the city management department for the payment of outstanding bills. Kisumu City Manager Doris Ombara yesterday confirmed that the money had been wired to the city account and would be used to pay electricity and water bills, which have been outstanding for the last four months. Part of the money will be used in maintenance work within the central business district. Ms Ombara had written to the county assembly protesting that her office had been starved of cash, hampering operations in the city. "Even though the money is not enough, we are glad that we have something," said Ombara
