Kitui County First Lady Edith Mawia Malombe knows she has a bright beautiful face even after 34 years in marriage.
Well, here is the secret: “A happy or unhappy marriage shows in the looks,” she says with a smile.
And Governor Dr Julius Malombe has played a part, well, a major part she says.
“I consider myself blessed to be married to a most loving and supportive husband whom I dearly love. ”
She advises young couples to invest in their relationships.
“It is about loving one another, showing unwavering commitment, patience and selflessness to the institution,” she says.
The First Lady was recently at the Ithookwe Showground on the outskirts of Kitui town where, together with Dr Auma Obama, sister to US President Barack Obama, officially launched her Kyeni (Kamba for light) foundation at a function graced by nine County first ladies and Governor Dr Julius Malombe.
“Through Kyeni, I have distributed over 30,000 pairs of shoes valued at sh3, 916,000 to needy school children all over Kitui County,” said Mrs Malombe.
