Ahadi Trust, firm unite to uplift jiggers victims

Ahadi Trust has partnered with a food company to buy banana produce from farmers who have recovered from jigger infestation.

Pamat Foods that specialises in value addition has partnered with the Kigumo-Ahadi Banana Farmers Self Help Group to uplift living standards of former victims of jigger infestation.

Ahadi Trust Executive Director Stanley Kamau, said the partnership will help them earn more from their produce on joint and individual farms.

Mr Kamau said Pamat will purchase a kilogramme of bananas at Sh12. The firm will use the fruits to make banana flour that farmers will purchase at a discounted price.

The group has registered over 100 farmers who have fully recovered from jigger infestation.
