Gor Mahia proved how strong they are after handing Telecom of Djibouti a 3-1 drubbing in their last group stage match of Cecafa Kagame Club championship at National Stadium, Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

The win enabled the K’Ogalo to top group “A” with 10 points with Yanga and Khartoum finishing second and third with nine and seven points respectively. Yanga beat Khartoum 1-0 in another match on Sunday.
Gor Mahia started brightly despite coach Frank Nuttal making eight changes in his starting lineup.

Nuttal rested his regulars; goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch, Harun Shakava, Kagere Medie, Abdul Karim, Godfrey Walusimbi, Sibomana Abouba, Khalid Aucho and captain Musa Mohammed.

George “Blackberry” Odhiambo shot the Kenyan Premier League champions ahead with a neat and curving shot in the 13th minute.
Telecom played defensive football making hard for Gor Mahia strikers Michael Olunga and Enock Agwanda to penetrate.

Michael Olunga continued with fantastic show after he tapped in Ronald Omino’s cross to beat custodian Jeef Nzokira for the second goal in the 29th minute.

The pressure was too much for coach Amars Niyongabo to bear and was forced to bring in Mawlid Ali for Mohammed Osman in the 40th minute.

Immediately after the break, Olunga came out for Meddie Kagere. Innocent Wafula almost got on the score sheet but his 48th minute shot went wide.

Moussa Ahmed came closer to pulling one for Telecom but his shot missed the target in the 51st minute.
Second half substitute Said Elmi scored the first of the tournament for Telecom when he placed his shot behind goalkeeper Frederick Onyango in the 74th minute.

Enock Agwanda blasted in a powerful shot for the third goal in the 79th minute sending the small but passionate Gor Mahia crowd to prolonged celebrations.

Gor Mahia will play the best loser in the quarter-final tomorrow.
