Q. Why do I still gain weight even after endless sessions of exercise?
While many ladies lose weight after few sessions of working out, most either remain the same or gain weight for one simple reason — working out makes them hungry. They either end up eating larger portions for their next meal, snack unnecessarily due to cravings or reward themselves with food after meeting targets.
Ladies in this category fully enjoy cardio vascular fitness, are very fit and have the highest energy levels when it comes to working out but physically, nothing changes. These are people we call “calorie compensators” because they easily replenish the calories they have already lost through exercise.
If you fall in this group, you will only see effective change if you focus more on eating right always no matter how hungry you are. Don’t just eat to get full, eat because it is healthy. Cravings will always come knocking after that good workout but it is upon you to differentiate between the right and wrong food.
Another contributing factor is staying on the wrong programme for too long. If this is the case, it is good to try a different approach. Try dieting while reducing the intensity of your workout.
Reducing the intensity simply means you still want to reserve some energy to do other stuff as your body tries to adopt new changes that is not used to. Do it in moderation but just make sure you don’t deny your body the essential meals that will boost your energy throughout your dieting process.
You can also try intense sessions that take your fat burning furnace up a notch rather than the so obvious workouts.
Such classes usually involve both cardio and free weight workouts plus lightweight training done with minimum rest.
Just an hour of this intense workout three to four times a week, will give you great results that normal exercise can’t.
