Devolution stakeholders in bid to curb county cash misuse

Devolution stakeholders converge in Naivasha Friday for a workshop to find solutions to funds wastage in county governments amid concerns over low allocations for development.

The workshop, being hosted by the Senate Committee on Finance, Commerce and Budget, brings together key policy, administrative and legislative bodies to look at the challenges to revenue collection, remittance and appropriation in county governments.

Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro is expected to open the two-day workshop, which will also include the Controller of Budget and officials from the Commission on Revenue Allocation, County Assembly Speakers Forum, Auditor General, Transition Authority, Salaries and Remuneration Commission and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

"The challenges require that we meet," said Senate Finance Committee Vice Chairperson Peter Mositet.
