Expect long rains from next week, says weatherman

NAIROBI, KENYA: A weak El Nino weather activity has been declared by international agencies even as local weathermen say the long rains could start as early as next week in western Kenya.
In its March to May weather forecast the Kenya Meteorological Department sees generally poor rains in most parts of the country.
"Depressed rainfall is expected over most of the eastern sector of the country during March-May 2015 long-rains season. However, rainfall over most parts of western and central counties is likely to be near-average with a slight tendency to above-average over several parts of western Kenya."

The onset of the seasonal rainfall, say a statement from the weather men is expected during the second to third week of March over most parts of western Kenya. The better part of the eastern sector, especially Northeastern is likely to experience the onset during the first to second week of April.
