Anglican Church sued by tenant over lack of water

Kenya: A father of two minors has sued the Anglican Church of Kenya, St James Cathedral in Kiambu, over the discontinued supply of water in their premises owned by the church.

George Wanjohi told the court that his two children have been cut off from accessing water by the church through their agency the Paragon Property Consultants.

Wanjohi said in his suit that his children were being discriminated against as the rest of the tenants have been supplied with running water.

The father of two wants the court to compel the respondents to connect the premise in question with running water and provide a receptacle for the disposal of garbage produced from the rental houses in Kiambu.

He also wants the court to issue orders stopping the house owners from charging parking fees on motor vehicles parked by the tenants citing that they are entitled to the facility.

Justice Aburili ordered the church and their agents to resume the water supply in the petitioners' house. He further directed the petitioner file and serve respondents before hearing on March 18.
