China sacks police chief after his juniors beat a journalist for reporting how they ate an endangered salamander

BEIJING: A police chief in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen has been sacked after colleagues roughed up a group of reporters who had tried to report on a group of officers feasting on a giant salamander, an endangered animal in China.

State media reported last month that the officers were allegedly eating the giant salamander, the world's largest amphibian, at a seafood restaurant.
