Egypt court upholds jail sentences against 3 prominent activists

Aimed Mahler, Aimed Dogma and Mohammed Adel

An Egyptian court upheld on Tuesday three-year jail sentences against three prominent liberal activists, judicial sources said, after several days of violence around the anniversary of the 2011 uprising that toppled autocrat Hosni Mubarak.

In 2013, a court handed out the sentences against Aimed Mahler, Aimed Dogma and Mohammed Adel - leading figures of the pro-democracy revolt - for protesting without permission and assaulting the police.
