Diego Maradona slaps journalist for winking at mother of his children

Argentina: Diego Maradona is no stranger to controversy and the Argentina legend proved it once again when he slapped a journalist following a heated interview with reporters.

The 53-year-old was questioned by several journalists as he left a theatre in his homeland with the mother of his child, Veronica Ojeda, and their son Diego Fernando on Saturday.

But, after one reporter allegedly gestured or winked at Ojeda, Maradona was angered enough to get out of his car and slap the man.

The 1986 World Cup winning captain said: “Why mess with my wife if I do not mess with you?”

The incident has made headlines in Argentina after the slap was captured on camera.

After seeing this video, we are sure that journalists in Maradona’s homeland won’t be messing with him again anytime soon.

Elsewhere, Blackpool may have named only four substitutes for their opening Championship match of the season against Nottingham Forest, but things appear to be even worse at Exeter, where 41-year-old boss Paul Tisdale has been listed on the bench.

The Grecians have had a sickness bug sweep the camp at the worst possible time, as they got their League Two campaign underway at home to Portsmouth on Sunday.

And the illness struck down so many players Tisdale, who has laced up his boots just once in the last 14 years, found himself in an unusual position.

“It’s always a difficulty when you’ve got players who are ill,” he told BBC Sport.
