Bupa Cromwell: The hotel-like hospital for VIPs and celebrities

 Opened in 1981, this state-of-the-art medical facility offers complex procedures for in-patient care from the world's most advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies.

Former First Lady Mama Lucy Kibaki succumbed to acute arthritis in Britain's Bupa Cromwell Hospital where patients from over 100 countries pay a call to its International Patient Centre.

Just so you know Bupa Cromwell is an internationally renowned private hospital, based in central London, offering treatment for both adults and children.

This hospital also boasts a hotel and catering service that won the Laing & Buisson Hotel Services Award in 2009 and has a Hospitality Assured Accreditation.

Besides Mama Lucy Kibaki, other famous patients at Bupa Cromwell include; the best Manchester United footballer who ever lived, the late George Best who spent his final days there receiving liver transplant treatment to wrestle years of hitting the bottle, besides British celebrity hairdresser Vidal Sassoon and British pop star Cheryl Cole who were patients there too.

Nigerian musician and playwright Chief Hubert Ogunde died there in 1990 as did Pakistani musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan who was admitted in August 1997, while passing through London on the way to Los Angeles USA to receive a kidney transplant. He was 48 when a cardiac arrest snuffed his life.

The hospital was acquired by Bupa, the leading global healthcare company, in March 2008.
