Four chiefs on security mission involved in road crash along Kisumu-Kakamega road

KISUMU COUNTY: Four chiefs from Muhoroni Sub-County, Kisumu County have been admitted at Avenue Hospital Kisumu after involving in a road accident.

The chiefs were on their way to Muhoroni from a security meeting in Kisumu which was chaired by Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku.

All chiefs and assistant chiefs from Kisumu and Siaya Counties attended the meeting.

According to County Traffic Commandant Joshua Omukata, an ambulance belonging to Nyakach District Hospital which was headed to Kisumu town tried to avoid hitting a motorcyclist at Nyamasaria Stage when it hit the right side of the GK pick up boarded by the chiefs.

Omukata said the Tuesday 4pm incident left four out of the eight chiefs who were on board with slight injuries and they were rushed to the hospital.

Nobody was injured among those on board in the ambulance.

“There were no major injuries or damages to the vehicles and police have moved in to investigate the circumstances under which it occurred,” said Omukata.

Nyanza Regional Coordinator Francis Mutie and Kisumu County Commissioner Lorner Odero visited the injured at the hospital.

Mutie said preliminary reports from the hospital medics who examined the victims indicated that the National Administrators did not suffer serious injuries.

“We believe the injuries are not major from the preliminary assessments but let the x-ray ascertain,” said Mutie.

By the time of going to press, the accident victims were undergoing x-ray to identify the extent of injuries.
