Relatives of Westgate attack victims to undergo DNA profiling

By CYRUS OMBATI

Relatives of the missing persons from the Westgate terror attack have been asked to report to City Mortuary Wednesday morning for DNA profiling.

This followed the discovery of human body parts from the ruins of the mall since Sunday. Among the bodies recovered is that of a military personnel.

Officials carrying out the recovery operation said they also recovered the personnel’s rifle near his body.

The body was badly burnt but his boots and lower part of the body were intact.

The officials had also on Sunday and Monday recovered eight other body parts and took them to the mortuary.

Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo asked those whose relatives are missing to report to the mortuary at 9am for DNA profiling.

Some 28 people have been recorded as missing following the four days siege that left the mall burning and destroyed.
