Police ask motorists to collect their vehicles at Westgate Mall

NAIROBI, KENYA: Police Friday asked motorist whose cars are detained at the Westgate Shopping Mall to go with documents and remove them.

The officers want those who left the cars as the terrorists struck to go with logbooks and other documents that can help in identifying them.

Some of the cars were damaged and burnt after explosions occurred and a section of the mall collapsed in a siege between the terrorists and security agencies.

Only those with proof of ownership will be allowed to the site which has been a security zone since last Saturday.

Dozens of cars are in the destroyed mall and nearby parking yard.

The owners escaped as the terrorists struck last Saturday killing 67 and injuring dozens of people.

Experts are still combing at the mall in efforts to establish if there are more bodies trapped there after it emerged up to 61 people who are believed to have been there cannot be traced up to now.

Investigations into the attack are ongoing and up to 100 people including several foreigners who were tenants at the mall have been grilled.

The attack on the mall had been forewarned by intelligence officers. But police say it was difficult for them to avert it because of the way it was executed.
