Horror wedding stories: Bridesmaid throws up on bride and cake

A new series of short films has shed light on some real-life wedding horror stories, from a bridesmaid throwing up on the bride to drunk guests having orgies during the reception.

Period.Films asked the public to submit their craziest tales from friends and families members' nuptials. The three most harrowing reads were recounted on camera by Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto.

Former bride, Amy McCarthy Hazel from Las Vegas, Nevada, told how the pastor cancelled a week before her big day so she had to get a friend ordained to perform the ceremony and the DJ died just days prior.

'The dead DJ's friend became our new DJ,' she explained in her submission. 'And dedicated our reception to his friend's memory over the microphone.'

To top it all off her mother got drunk and threw the entire leftover wedding cake blindly into the trunk of her car.

Kate Robrock told how she was asked to be bridesmaid by a good friend but a day before her dress fitting the invitation was retracted.

Instead, the bride-to-be decided to replace her with a friend from college.

But Ms Robrock explained that 'karma’s a sweet mistress indeed' because when the day came her replacement stood up to give a speech and threw up on the 'bride’s lovely white gown' and wedding cake.

Meanwhile another mortified bride revealed some events she would rather forget.

Firstly, she discovered a collection of nude portraits showing herself and her new husband in their guestbook.

Then, later that evening, she was informed that someone was attempting to steal her wedding gifts but she shouldn't worry because a 'mob of drunk people' had stopped the person.

'Turns out the person wasn’t trying to steal anything, just helping to load gifts up into the car. That person turned out to be my boss,' she wrote.

Filmmaker Victor Quinaz, who founded Period.Films, also interviewed subjects face-to-face about their most jaw-dropping wedding encounters. One astounded couple, who recently attended a friend's big day said: 'The groom was drunk like the entire weekend. He peed in the silver water pitchers at the reception.

'He had to be restrained several times from taking off his pants.'

They explained that at the end of the night the bride actually left alone. However, it seems she was fully aware of her husband's raucous nature as they are still happily married.

Another woman told how she attended the wedding of a good childhood friend she hadn't seen for ten years. Because she wasn't picked as bridesmaid she said she wandered into the woods crying, tripped over and cut her legs open.

'There was no time for stitches so in all the photographs I am bleeding through bandages on my legs,' she cringed, relieving the ordeal.

She added: 'That wedding ended with me drinking seven gin and tonics and skinny dipping to the old diving dock.'

Periods.Films recently debuted a feature-length film, Breakup at a Wedding, that centers around a disastrous fictional wedding.

It called for the public to come forward with their own wedding disaster stories to coincide with its release.
