Administration Police officer arrested in Kiambu with 6kg of ivory

Nairobi, Kenya: An Administration Police (AP) officer was Friday morning arrested by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officials with two pieces of worked ivory at the Gathiga AP Post in Kiambu County.

The suspect was arrested while attempting to sell off the six-kilogram trophies at Sh40,000 per kilogramme.

This second such arrest made by KWS officials this week, was made following a tip off from the public.

An AP motorbike (GK B 647A) which was used to transport the trophies was also impounded during the operation.

The suspect will be arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts on Monday morning.

Earlier this week, another AP officer was arrested with 40kg of ivory at the Kawangware AP Camp in Nairobi.
