Thugs kill guard, make away with Sh200,000 worth of goods

ELDORET, KENYA: A security guard manning the Kenya Red Cross (KRC) office in Eldoret was murdered during a robbery on Monday night.

The guard was found dead at the humanitarian organisation’s  Pioneer Estate office, not far from where two students were killed a last month.

Patrick Nyongesa, who serves as Assistant General Secretary of the KRC in charge of North and South Rift regions, said that the office had been robbed of Sh200,000 worth of goods.

When contacted about the incident,  local police told The Standard that investigations into the killing and robbery are underway.

Meanwhile, residents from the region decried rampant insecurity calling for swift action by security forces in the area.
