Uhuru said those who lose must concede defeat and work with the winner for the sake of development. Addressing World Cooperatives Day celebrations in Embu on Saturday, he reiterated that Kenyans will elect leaders of their choice, and their verdict must be respected.
‘”I am asking for my own votes and everybody else must do the same. Those who lose must work with the victors,” he said. The Gatundu South MP called for unity, saying the region must not allow a repeat of the 2007 General Election when MPs were elected on various parties.
He spoke during his third day tour of Mt Kenya East, which culminated in a public rally at Embu Municipal Stadium.
The DPM held a series of meetings with councillors and opinion leaders in the town and addressed the County’s Cooperatives’ delegates at Rukuriri Primary School in Runyenjes constituency.
Makadara MP Gidion Mbuvi ‘Sonko’ criticised Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s wife calls for aspirants with pending cases not to vie, saying she should respect others if she wants to be respected.
Sonko warned Ida against throwing stones at other aspirants saying: “Raila has not cleared himself over the 1982 coup and the stolen maize”.
He opposed the move to stop funds drives for those seeking elective office and said it was the only way leaders help the poor.
