Kenyans react after Supreme Court dismisses the petitions challenging President Uhuru’s win

The Supreme Court on Monday 20 November dismissed the two petitions challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win during the repeat presidential election held on October 26. Chief Justice David Maraga said that they were not able to deliver the full judgement since the petitions were retired with two days to the deadline. “After the hearing the petitions we retired with only two days left to the deadline and it was impossible to write a full judgement. What we read today is a summary verdict on the issues raised in the petitions,” said CJ Maraga. President Uhuru Kenyatta was winner of the October 26 repeat elections after the Supreme Court nullified the August 8 election on 1 September 2017. This is after National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga filed a petition to challenge his win.
