Kenyan woman who prominently featured on Lux soap adverts is dead

During the 80s, the face of a certain woman was prominent on Lux soap advertisements and her glowing skin was envied by many.

Gaudencia Aura was, at the time, one of the most sought after models in the region.

She also featured on several magazines and served as an air hostess before becoming a pilot.

According to her aunt Dr Wangia Aura, Gaudencia, 66, was found unconscious on Monday and was rushed to hospital.

Unfortunately, she died 12 hours later.

“We found her unconscious in the house and rushed her to hospital where she died 12 hours later. She never told us what had happened to her,” she said.

Her younger sister Celestine described her as a staunch Christian who dedicated her life after retirement to God.

“We found her unconscious in the house and rushed her to hospital where she died 12 hours later. She never told us what had happened to her,” she said.

She will be laid to rest next week at her home in Mumias.
