SUMMARY

When Mburu was coming back from the Emergency centre, he realized his motorcycle was missing.

He went and questioned the security guards at the facility who were in the company of two AP officers concerning his motorbike whereabouts.

Mama Lucy Hospital in Nairobi is under investigation after an AP officer shot dead a bodaboda rider under unclear circumstances inside the facility.

Reports indicate the bodaboda rider - Daniel Mburu had rescued a young girl who reportedly was drowning in Korogocho river. After rescuing the girl, Mburu immediately took his motorbike and rushed her to the nearby Mama Lucy facility to save her life.

On arrival at Mama Lucy gate, a scuffle ensued, Mburu forced his entry into the facility to save the child's life as he saw it an emergency. Luckily enough, he managed to find his way at the Accident and Emergency centre, where he handed over the young girl to the medics. To him, he had saved a life.

When Mburu was coming back from the Emergency centre, he realized his motorcycle was missing. He went and questioned the security guards at the facility who were in the company of two AP officers concerning his motorbike whereabouts.

When he questioned the officers on why they had confiscated his motorcycle, there was an exchange of words that led to a commotion, according to witnesses. During the fracas, the AP officer who was carrying his rifle - an AK 47, shot the young man in the chest.

The body was immediately taken into the Mama Lucy Morgue. The gun sound had sent an alarm to youths who were around, and on noticing the scene, they forced their entry into Mama Lucy alongside demonstrators demanding answers and arrest of the officer for the offence.

At this moment, GSU officers were called upon to calm the situation. They came with force and used tear gas to scare the demonstrators away. In the whole mix up, injuries were reported.

It took more than two hours to contain the situation, but at the end of all this, Mburu had saved a life, and he was dead. His family had just lost a father, a son, and a loved one.

Will they get Justice?

An answer that the authority has remained adamant about saying yes or no for now. Police have also not taken the responsibility of the murder.

The incident comes barely a few hours after IPOA had released its statistics in the increased cases of extrajudicial killings, whereby those mandated to protect life have become a threat to life itself. In all this, Kenyans are asking if the police reforms were just a document.

The officer has not been arrested, and the young girl is under medication at the same facility as the body of Mburu is moved to City Morgue.

The Police have launched investigations into the murder incident.
