I had to abandon my plate of Bhajia when I heard Uhuru had appointed me CAS — Nadia Abdalla

Newly appointed ICT CAS Nadia Abdalla on Thursday revealed that she had to abandon her plate of bhajia immediately she learnt about her appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking during an interview on KTN News, Nadia said she was going about her business as usual when a friend told her she had been appointed to government.

"I was having my bhajia when a friend called me telling me President Kenyatta had mentioned my name while announcing the Cabinet reshuffle.


I contacted someone who started by asking for my full names and went on to confirm I had been given this privileged position. I lost my appetite immediately," she said.

Nadia, who holds an MA in International Relations stated that she has been championing for the empowerment of youth and had invested her time in training them on public speaking.

“As youth we need to articulate our issues better. Most of us struggle to put our points across yet this is one of the most fundamental life skills,” she remarked.

The 28-year-old further stated that she is looking forward to her new role as she is experienced in matters communication and is eager to learn how she can use her skills to improve the docket.

Nadia became a household name when she represented Mombasa County in the KTN reality show ‘Madam President.’

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho was among the very first people to congratulate her on her new job and expressed his pride at her milestone.

"Congratulations Nadia Ahmed Abdalla on your appointment as CAS for ICT, Innovation and Youth. As a county, we are proud of you.

“It is our hope that you will use the same intellect, zeal, and wisdom that you served the people of Mombasa," the governor posted on Twitter.
