“Lufthansa has stated that it is ready to transport me to Kenya when the READ ALERT has been formally cancelled or withdrawn by the illegitimate Government of Kenya.
"But as of now, despite lies peddled via social media and press statements, the RED ALERT has not been cancelled."
Lawyer Miguna Miguna on Tuesday revealed that he was due to fly to Kenya but the government had not withdrawn a red alert that barred Lufthansa from transporting him to Kenya or any other African country.
Miguna further added that he was still at an airport in Berlin but was exploring options on how he would travel to Kenya later today or tomorrow.
“The Office of the President issued a RED ALERT to Lufthansa last evening threatening to deny landing rights to the airline if it carried me to Kenya or any other African country.
“It was issued AFTER the Court Orders by Justice Korir. I'm still at the TXL airport in Berlin,” he revealed.
Adding: “Lufthansa has stated that it is ready to transport me to Kenya when the READ ALERT has been formally cancelled or withdrawn by the illegitimate Government of Kenya. But as of now, despite lies peddled via social media and press statements, the RED ALERT has not been cancelled.
“I'm exploring all my options. I'll communicate when and how I will travel to Kenya later today or tomorrow. Meanwhile, I urge all my supporters, freedom fighters and genuine human rights defenders to remain focused and unbowed. Mobilize for a huge homecoming to shame the despots.”
In an early morning interview with Hot 96’s Jeff Koinange, Miguna is heard saying that the red alert referred to him as a Canadian and not a Kenyan.
However, he remained adamant that he is coming back to Kenya.
“I am here and I am coming back as soon as I’m allowed to board the flight,” he told Jeff.
His flight was scheduled to leave Frankfurt at 7.45 am.
At the time of speaking to Jeff Koinange, it was around 8.55 am in Nairobi and said he had about an hour to clear with immigration officials and be allowed to board his flight.
However, Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna has reiterated that the lawyer is free to return to Kenya.
He said that “any arising issues outside the country will be handled by the Foreign Affairs Ministry.”
