An Administration Police officer alleged to have shot his colleague and pretended it was a case of suicide has been granted Sh250,000 bond after denying murder charges.

Constable Phillip Wahome Muthondoi, 22, was charged with killing Constable Philemon Kipkoech Samoei on August 1 at Milimani estate, Kakamega Sub-county.

According to court documents, the accused is said to have passed by Kipkoech’s house on his way to a supermarket where he was stationed as a security officer.

However, the deceased is said to have denied Wahome access on grounds that his boots were muddy.

Angered by the denial, he is said to have drawn his AK47 rifle which had 30 rounds of ammunition and shot Kipkoech on the head.

Wahome is said to have taken the deceased’s AK47 rifle which also had 30 rounds of ammunition and removed one bullet.

The investigators established that the accused later placed Kipkoech’s gun near him to make it look like suicide.

However, officers from Kakamega Police Station who were informed of the incident rushed to the house of the deceased and arrested Wahome.
