It was the final journey of the Kakamega woman, Evaline Namukhula who recently gave birth to five children. Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and several leaders joined family, friends and relatives to bid Namukhula farewell at Isokhe village, Kakamega County.

The county chief expressed his deepest condolences to the family saying it was a big loss to the county, terming the burial a ‘county funeral’.

In his address Oparanya said his county government will ensure that the welfare of the children is well-taken care of.

“Yale tumeamua kwa haraka nikuhakikisha tumelinda hawa watoto kwa mwaka moja na nusu. Tutagharamia maziwa na wale ambao watakua wanawaangalia tutawalipa ( our immediate resolve is to ensure that in the next one and half years, we will cater for food expenses of Evaline’s children and pay those who will be taking care of them)”, said Oparanya.

According to Oparanya, the county government of Kakamega is currently completing the construction of a bigger house that will shelter the family of the deceased and the babysitters.

The Council of Governors chair also promised to incorporate the Evaline’s husband in the county youth program that will see him earn income to support his young family.

Oparanya urged residents to support the family at this time of need and pledged to ensure that the three children will only leave hospital after being deemed fit by the doctors.

"These children are ours, our responsibility as a county government we will take care of them", said Oparanya.

The county boss however cautioned those seeking personal benefits by pretending to be giving a helping hand to the deceased family saying anyone looking forward to helping the family should be genuine.
