Just where is Deputy President William Ruto? This is the big question on the lips of his supporters amidst an onslaught against him by some allies of his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The last time Dr Ruto was seen and heard publicly was last Thursday, when he hosted leaders from Western Kenya at his Sugoi home.
Nothing has been heard of the DP since then, which is so unlike him. His lieutenants, mostly from the Rift Valley, have been the ones responding to the people trashing his 2022 bid.
Yesterday he was conspicuously absent when the President and opposition Chief Raila Odinga attended a public function in Mombasa. Could he be on a well-deserved holiday, seeing that he had little rest over the festive season?
Elsewhere….there seems to be an agreement among his key political allies not to comment on the woes facing him.
For days, a number of Jubilee lawmakers perceived to be close to him have politely declined to give their comments on the development.
Yesterday, a vocal lawmaker and dependable friend of his martly dodged questions on what he things of the whole saga.
He asked all those who were looking for his comment to send him a text, only for him to switch off his phone!
On Sunday, yet another senior jubilee leader - who has been a vocal defender of DP - told a journalist that he cannot comment on the tiff, pointing out that that was a fight between his ‘seniors’. What is cooking?
