Jubilee Party’s grand plan to have Uhuru Kenyatta sworn in as President on October 26th

If Raila Odinga boycotts the October 26 election, Uhuru Kenyatta will be sworn in as President, if the proposed election law changes are anything to go by.

The National Super Alliance flag bearer, also Orange Democratic Movement leader stated that if reforms are not done at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, then there is no need to have elections.

The coalition has made public ‘irreducible minimums’, top of their list being the removal of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba from office. NASA also want read-only access to be granted to all involved parties.

Jubilee wants Uhuru Kenyatta sworn in as president in one of the amendments suggested to the election laws.

One of the provisions says, "Where only one candidate remains after the withdrawal, the remaining candidate shall be declared elected forthwith as the President-elect without any election."

Raila said that he was willing to hold talks with Jubilee if they drop the proposed amendments, failure to do so will see him boycott elections.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said that he sees no need for election law changes, insisting that the Commission was preparing well for the October poll.

Deputy President William Ruto has accused NASA of wanting a ’nusu mkate’ government, which is the reason why they are trying to derail the October poll.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned Raila Odinga not to try and stop people from exercising their democratic right to vote.
