RECOGNITION: Teachers in administrative roles to get higher pay

As a head teacher of a public primary school, I wish to register my appreciation over the implementation of the CBA signed between the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and Kenya National Union of Teachers.

The CBA was a real milestone for several reasons. Firstly, for the first time in my 30 years as a teacher, teachers’ salaries and other terms of service will be regulated by a CBA which will last four years. Secondly, school administrators who include senior teachers, deputy head teachers and head teachers have been rewarded for the additional responsibilities. Administrative duties and responsibilities are involving and many times you have to report early and leave the school late. It also includes a lot of supervision and problem-solving. I believe this has also been the case with our colleagues in secondary schools.
