Why it is very risky to ignore the Opposition's claims in run up to elections

For the sake of this election, let IEBC resign and we appoint Raila and his team to be procurement officers, election officers and also participate as candidates. It will be free and fair. Rop Sidindi

In 2007/08 Kenya burned when President Kibaki ignored complaints from his competitors in the run up to the elections. Jubilee is using the same tactics, ignoring and dismissing genuine complaints about the integrity of preparations for the elections. NASA has raised pertinent issues about the IEBC being pressured, if not compromised, to award the tender to this Al Ghurair company. Sifu Msafiri

This has been the Opposition’s strategy all along to derail 2017 General Election and from the look of things, they are “succeeding.” NASA is perfect with politics of antagonism. Solo Maish

Nobody wants to derail anything my friend, what is difficult in IEBC giving another company the tender? IEBC is doing things that make them suspect. Bill Oudia

Kenyans are not fools. The sooner this decision is rescinded and the contract awarded to another firm the better. Chiloba and Immaculate must recuse themselves from the tender process immediately. Philip Ochola

I am wondering, if Chiloba and Kasait are kicked out 55 days to the elections, will IEBC have time to advertise, interview and recruit new staff before the elections. Do these NASA guys weigh their words before they go public. Jesse Ndung’u

Kenya is bigger than those two; there is no need going to an election where one side raises questions and they are not addressed. We can’t afford another 2007 because of two people. The earlier IEBC clears the air the better for everyone. Bill Oudia

Unsubstantiated allegations for those who dread the voice of the people come August 8. This has always been Raila’s method. Scuttle the process, create confusion and hope for coalition government. Jane Kim
